Kim McIntosh
FCS Housing Case Manager
Kim holds an Associate in Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree in Addiction Studies from Edmonds College and is a licensed Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDP-T). She is also a Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) and a Recovery Coach, bringing a wealth of personal and professional experience to her role at Sound Pathways. She describes these programs as vital—something she wishes had been available when she needed it most.
“Drawing on my own journey, I acknowledge the challenges of recovery but also the potential for profound growth and healing. Reflecting on my life, I am inspired by the opportunity to now help others realize that recovery and a better life are possible for them too.”
Kim embodies the values of advocacy, connection, and respect holding special significance in her work. She understands that advocacy is essential for individuals who may not have had the opportunity to practice self-advocacy in a long time and may feel unsure about speaking up for themselves. For Kim, connection is equally critical, as having a support system or guide can provide the encouragement and direction necessary for transformative change. She also emphasizes the importance of respect, recognizing that many clients have struggled with self-respect or haven’t felt valued in years. Kim believes that showing respect and treating individuals with dignity fosters trust and creates a solid foundation for impactful, collaborative work.
“I chose this line of work because of my lived experience with mental health challenges and substance use disorders (MH and SUD). After losing my daughter to an overdose in 2018, my perspective on recovery, resilience, and housing solidified into a core belief: everyone deserves stable housing, as it is foundational to the recovery process.”
Kim is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others, leveraging her experience and compassion to advocate for and support clients as they navigate the path to recovery.
